Maison Historique

Located in Linden Heights, this historic Des Moines home was renovated to reflect the homeowner’s personal style and love of Parisian Architecture. With her background in fashion design and studies in Paris, much went into sourcing the perfect fabrics, textures and colors for this home. To that end, our collaboration proved to be a perfect match when both parties presented the same tiger wall covering at the initial meeting. Our main goal was to uncover the historic beauty and enhance the authenticity of this home, while creating a new layout that was aligned with how this young family lives. We achieved this with the addition of elaborate millwork and moldings throughout, as well as thoughtfully designed cabinetry tailored to the specific needs of each room. The entry sets the tone when one is greeted with marble patterned floors and bursts of color in each adjoining room. The kitchen was relocated to the parlor and the former kitchen was reimagined and transformed into a moody wine room. With stellar views of manicured rose gardens and a terrace with a running fountain, one imagines themselves transported to a five star Parisian estate. Highlights include a pool with an adjoining pool house, fireplaces in virtually every room, marble walls in the kitchen and pink quartzite casing in the Primary Bathroom. Overall the outcome is timeless yet still unique to this client’s sensibility.
