Maison Historique
Located in the beautiful, tree-lined Linden Heights neighborhood, this historic Des Moines home was renovated to reflect the homeowner’s personal style and love of Parisian architecture. With a background in fashion design and time spent studying in Paris, she brought a clear vision and refined aesthetic to every detail—sourcing the perfect fabrics, textures, and colors to bring her dream to life.
From the start, the collaboration felt serendipitous. At the initial meeting, both Stephanie and the client arrived with the same bold tiger wall covering in hand—a moment that set the tone for a deeply aligned design process. Our shared goal was to uncover the home’s historic beauty while reimagining the layout for a modern family. We added intricate millwork and moldings throughout and designed custom cabinetry tailored to each space. The entry sets the tone, with marble-patterned floors and vibrant colors spilling into the surrounding rooms. The kitchen was relocated to the parlor, while the former kitchen became a moody wine room—an unexpected transformation that adds both drama and function.
With picturesque views of manicured rose gardens and a terrace fountain, the home evokes the feeling of a timeless Parisian estate. Highlights include a pool and pool house, fireplaces in nearly every room, marble kitchen walls, and pink quartzite detailing in the primary bath. The result is elegant and deeply personal—infused with the unique sensibility of the client and the spirit of Paris.
